SARGODHA, (Poultry Point) :Commissioner Sargodha division Mehmood Hassan has directed the departments concerned to take action against poultry farms causing pollution in the area.
Chairing a meeting of divisional environmental protection committee here, he said that poultry-farm owners should be directed to plant at least one thousand saplings on their premises and specify an area for dumping the poultry waste properly. He said that farms should be setup at least 500 metres away from populated areas.
He said that water recycling units should be installed at poultry farms and the owners should adopt solar energy equipment for provision of healthy environment to birds.
As many as 17 cases were discussed in the meeting for establishment of new poultry farms in Sargodha and Khushab districts, and conditional approval was given to them.
It was decided that no-objection certificates (NOCs) would be required from Irrigation, Livestock, Revenue, Agriculture departments and consent of land owners adjacent to the poultry farms would also be needed for establishment of new farms.
