On Thursday the Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) asked the government to provide facilities to the poultry traders for making them capable of increasing the exports of Halal chicken meat and poultry products by a minimum of $440 million per year.
Abdul Razak Dawood—the Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce, Industry and Textile was informed by a delegation of PPA that the Middle East has become the biggest Halal food consumer market whereas the demand for Halal food in the European nations is also surging owing to the increasing number of Muslims residing in the European nations.
The delegation informed that by next year, the total trade volume in Halal food throughout the world would exceed $3.7 trillion, hence Pakistan could avail this great opportunity.
The adviser to the prime minister gave assurance to the delegation of complete support to the industry saying that it would be bringing many more reforms in the poultry sector and would increase the export volume in this sector.
In the meantime, another delegation of Pakistan Ready made Garments Association also visited the Adviser and asked him to further simplify the process of tax refund system.
The delegation also asked the government to decrease duties on the raw material import for minimizing the cost of export-oriented productions. The delegation was assured that their issues would be resolved on immediate and priority basis.
