Poultry association wants FIA to curb ‘propaganda’ against chickens

There are numerous assumptions regarding the hazards of chicken meat on social media. Be it from bird flu or injecting steroids into chickens, social media is flooded with such claims.

But experts say there’s no truth to such news. The Poultry Association has requested the FIA to intervene and control the widespread propaganda. The Supreme Court and Punjab Food Authority also say that chickens in Pakistan are given safe feed.

“We got to know from social media that steroid injections are being given to chickens,” said a consumer.

On the other hand, the Poultry Association says that propaganda starts every time the price of chicken increases. The poultry industry has decided to take help from cybercrime cells against such elements.

“It seems like a foreign conspiracy. We and the food authority have contacted the FIA to curb such propaganda,” said Chamber of Pakistan Poultry Association's Abdullah.

According to a survey, half of the country's population is suffering from a protein deficiency. The reason behind such a deficiency is because of the high price of meat, the survey said.
